Graduate School & Healthcare

Building upon the pillars of nonprofit strategy and service design, I began my dual-masters’ program at Johns Hopkins University and Maryland Institute College of Art, while working full-time in performance improvement consulting with Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Throughout this professional experience, I both collaborated with the Assistant Director to drive systemwide initiatives and also led project management on a diverse portfolio of projects. Primarily utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies, an emphasis was placed on understanding the value stream, assessing observed data, and optimizing the end experience of patient care.

As I gained better understanding of the healthcare institution and the problems faced by its stakeholders, I recognized the value offered by the underutilized technology of the real-time locating system. Embracing a learning mindset, I immersed myself in the capabilities offered by the robust data insights offered by the movement of equipment, patients, and providers. Becoming an expert technologist and champion, I catalyzed new strategic projects across the institution to help facilitate the delivery of better patient care.

During my academic program, I incorporated tools such as personas and journey maps, utilized ideation methodologies for innovative solution development, and honed my strategic thinking abilities. With focus towards both empathy building and business acumen, I was exposed to how strategy can be conducted in a socially-meaningful way.

In learning and practicing methodologies across Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking, and Business Administration, I found a unique perspective from which to frame and address problems.
